WEHI

Dr Cynthia Louis is a Senior Research Fellow of the Inflammation Division at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI). Cynthia completed her PhD in 2016 at the University of Melbourne where she studied the cytokine GM-CSF, an emerging target for inflammatory arthritis and vasculitis. With Professor Ian Wicks at WEHI, she has built an extensive preclinical research program and Pharma collaborations to characterise and therapeutically target cytokines/cellular pathways that are involved in the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune rheumatic diseases. Including her ongoing contribution to Rheumatoid Arthritis research, her current program now focus on other difficult-to-treat autoimmune diseases such as SLE, Systemic Sclerosis, and immune checkpoint inhibitor cancer therapy-associated rheumatic adverse events (RAEs).
